台灣海軍的反潛直升機隊最初以12架500MD/ASW反潛直升機成軍，也開啟了台灣海軍艦隊的3度空間反潛作戰能力。

掛載於500MD/ASW反潛直升機的機身右側為AN/ASQ-81C(V)2型磁測儀，其主要作用在於提供反潛直升機進行偵潛作業。
